The art profiling people for Leadership, Supervisor, and Management in Brisbane, Gold Coast and Logan

Developing Teams + Human Factors

This one-day course on Developing Teams, ‘integrating Human Factors’ provides specific training in people and leadership skills for developing teams, by understanding different teams run or perform the same tasks differently. This can be very frustrating for managers and leaders because in business today, the emphasis is often not on behaviours but on solid strategies, project-time lines and policies. Behavioural elements are not even considered, yet employee behaviours, not strategies, project-time lines processes and policies make or break organisational performance.

For all managers, human skills are becoming increasingly important. Critical skills for top-level manager’s in today’s world include the ability to create an exciting and demanding work environment, and to inspire confidence in and support for the organisation and its leadership. Middle managers have to learn to build relationships, empower others, promote cooperation and handle conflict. First line managers need the ability to motivate workers from day to day to achieve organisational goals.

We develop teams with the purpose to execute a work plan that will meet the expectations of the team objective, organisation or project, yet we forget that different teams can reach the same objective differently. This variation is attributable to differences in people, processes and interactions. The interactions of a team are dependent on the collective knowledge, values (culture, life experiences and personalities), in other words Human Factors of the group. Each person has personal preferences regarding how to run the team and how to work within the team. People have different work and communication styles, and these personal preferences and differences represent the diversity of the team. All team members want the same thing (to achieve the specific goals), but each goes after it differently due to their diversity. This can generate both positive and negative interactions. How well we manage human interactions is the key to the success of any team.
