This anaphylaxis management course is accredited training that includes information about allergies and anaphylaxis, including the signs and symptoms, management and treatment (use of Epi-Pens/Ana-pens), the following of anaphylaxis management plans and risk management implementation.
What will you learn?
- VU20296 Provide first aid management of severe allergic reaction and anaphylaxis
- Assess an emergency situation
- Provide appropriate treatment for anaphylactic reaction
- Communicate details of incident
- Evaluate first aid response to anaphylactic reaction
- VU20297 Develop risk minimisation and management strategies for allergic reaction an anaphylaxis
- Identify individuals at risk of allergic reactions and anaphylaxis
- Develop individual anaphylaxis management plans
- Implement strategies to prevent allergic and anaphylactic reactions
- Develop and implement a communication plan to raise awareness of allergic reactions and anaphylaxis
Who should do this course?
- Existing employees in industry, for example, Family/Child Day Care Service workers, Primary and Secondary education providers who are responsible for the well being of students and/or children diagnosed with allergic and anaphylaxis reactions and symptoms
- School leavers (14 years or older) may benefit from the completion of this course as it will provide increased employment options and may be required for entry into further training/employment avenues such as Fitness Professionals, Childcare and health workers etc.
- This unit may be suitable for mature age students even if they are not in the workforce. Mature age students who may benefit from this training include carers, grandparents, volunteers etc
- Sporting associations may benefit from this unit for coaches and managers and the associations “Duty of Care” during events
Pre-requisites
Participants must be over 14 years of age or have written parental/guardian consent to attend.
Assessment method & award issued
Participants who satisfactory demonstrate competency in both our theory and practical assessments will receive a Statement of Attainment – ’22099VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis’, that is normally valid for three (3) years from the date if issue, where it is a requirement for persons working in schools, Before and After School Care, and Childcare.
- An annual re-certification is required to remain current.
Public Course Locations & Cost
Our public courses take place throughout the year in Brisbane, Gold Coast and Logan. Most courses are scheduled for delivery at Alibi Training Head Office – Unit 15, 8 Dennis Road, Springwood QLD 4127.
